A couple of days ago it was an A Bola report that disclosed Cristiano Ronaldo’s decision(?) to leave Real Madrid. Now, it’s a Marca report that shows who were the first ones to get… mobilized on Madrid’s behalf to change the Portuguese star’s mind.
According to the Spanish newspaper, Zinedine Zidane called Ronaldo in Russia, where Portugal are taking part in the Confederations Cup, first to make sure that the rumours were true, and then to tell him why he should remain at Madrid.
The coach of Los Blancos is reported to have told Ronaldo how crucial his presence is in the team, not only for the goals he scores, but most of all for his overall winning mentality, which is passed on to the rest of the squad, as members of it have acknowledged, even high-profile ones.
Zidane tried to convince Ronaldo that no problem is without a solution, and that this Real Madrid team that has won back-to-back Champions League titles has still many more trophies to win, and the Portuguese should be part of that.
According to the same report, Sergio Ramos as well called Ronaldo, as captain, and as someone who knows him possibly better than other Madrid players.
Ramos practically repeated what Zidane had already told the Portuguese superstar, emphasizing on how many and how big trophies they can still win, both in Spain and at international level.
It remains to be seen if Ronaldo is 100% confident his days in Madrid are over, or if this whole situation is an attempt to… draw attention, as some claim.
