Betting Markets

One of the many perks of having a bet on Euro 2020 at an online bookmaker is the abundance of choice they offer. No stone is left unturned in their quest to provide betting markets for each element of the tournament.

From group winners and the Golden Boot through to the outright winner of the Championship, it’s all here for you. However, betting on Euro 2020 kicks off long before the main tournament begins because you can wager on the qualifying as well. Here are some of the most popular main markets for Euro 2020 betting.

Betting on Euro 2021

Bet on Qualifying Euro 2020

20 out of the 24 teams have already progressed through the qualification phase, but there’s still the small matter of the Euro 2020 play-offs to deal with. There are 16 teams vying for 4 spots.

They will compete over a play-off semi-final on 8 October. The winners of each tie will then go head-to-head in the Euro 2020 qualifying play-off finals on Thursday 12 November 2020.

Euro 2020 qualifying play-off semi-finals

  • A: Bulgaria v Hungary, Iceland v Romania
  • B: Bosnia and Herzegovina v Northern Ireland, Slovakia v Republic of Ireland
  • C: Scotland v Israel, Norway v Serbia
  • D: Georgia v Belarus, North Macedonia v Kosovo

Euro 2020 qualifying play-off finals

The winners of each match will play the other team from their path (A, B, C, D). For example, the winner of Iceland v Romania will play the winner of Bulgaria v Hungary.

While none of these sides is among the favourites to win the tournament outright, there are still plenty of interesting betting opportunities to take advantage of. You can claim any of the Euro 2020 betting offers promoted in the table above if you want to jump in and have a punt on these matches.

Bet on Winner Euro 2020

Punters are eager to back their team to go all the way, so you can expect big money pouring in on this one.

There are several ways you can approach betting on this market. Many punters tend to go ante-post. This means betting on Euro 2020 before any group games have started.

Currently, England is the favourites with many of the UK’s leading bookmakers. For sure, they stand a great chance, but being shorter-priced than France, Belgium, and even Germany – how is that possible?

The answer is simple, many England fans have and will continue to back Gareth Southgate’s lads to lift the trophy at Wembley on the 11th of July. This partly creates a false market because a lot of the early money being laid down is betting with the heart and not the head.

It creates better value elsewhere. You can pick up better Euro 2020 odds on France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, or whichever team you fancy. Furthermore, another advantage of ante-post Euro 2020 betting is that you’ll find more variance in the prices between bookmakers.

For instance, England is as low as 4/1 with some bookies while others have them at 5s. France range between 9/2 and 6/1. Therefore, there’s a lot of value to be had by getting in early and placing a bet on Euro 2020.

An alternative strategy for this market is to wait until the first round of group matches have been played. This is riskier because if the team you want to back plays well and wins easily, their odds will shorten.

However, if they draw or lose, you’ll get a much better price. In this case, a simple Euro 2020 betting tip is to place half your stake ante-post and the other half after the first match.

Bet on top Goalscorer Euro 2020

Although every squad member likes to talk about it ‘being a team effort’; we all know that Europe’s leading marksmen have their sights set on the Golden Boot. This is a fascinating market because its so open.

You have all the top guns, such as Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappe, Ronaldo, and Lukaku, among the favourite Euro 2020 betting tips for top goalscorer. However, there are a few dark horses, with very attractive odds, like Immobile, Griezmann, and Eden Hazard who could steal the show.

The first thing to do when reviewing this market is to look at club form and injuries. All of the British bookies have Kane as the clear favourite, but he faces a race to even be fit for the tournament. This opens up the betting on Euro 2020 Golden Boot considerably if you remove him from the equation.

Moreover, you want to be backing a player who plays for a team that you think will go far in the tournament. For example, Robert Lewandowski has been one of the top club strikers in Europe for many years now, but playing for Poland reduces his chances on the big stage.

It is very rare that the Golden Boot winner only plays three group games, so predict who you think will make the quarters and semis. This is where you’ll find the top goalscorer.

Euro 2020 Odds

As the start of the tournament gets closer and betting on Euro 2020 intensifies, the bookmaker’s odds tend to draw closer to one another’s. That doesn’t mean there isn’t some decent value to be found if you know where to look.

England to Win Euro 2020 Odds

As mentioned above, England is the early favourites according to the latest Euro 2020 odds. However, we would be very surprised if that were the case when the first group match kicks off on the 11th of June.

The serious money will start flooding in after the end of the domestic football seasons, and when each country announces its squad. Punters can then evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the teams.

In regards solely to England’s odds, we would wait until the last knockings. Presently, you can find them at 4/1 with some bookies. There is little chance that pre-tournament these Euro 2020 odds will decrease further, so there’s a good opportunity of getting better value by holding on.

Euro 2021 Odds

Euro 2020 Top Scorer Odds

This market is more wide open, and there’s a greater spread in the Euro 2020 odds. When betting, forget national pride, and put to one side who your favourite player is.

The bookmakers fancy Kane to add to his World Cup Golden Boot, and he’s currently floating around the 5/1 mark in the latest Euro 2020 betting odds. Given that he suffered a torn hamstring playing for Tottenham, and is not due back until May, these prices are rather tight.

The teams that reach the final will play seven games, There is no third-place play-off at this year’s event. Our prediction is that the top scorer will need to play a minimum of five matches (quarter-finals or beyond).

With there being 24 teams at Euro 2020 compared to only 16 for previous tournaments, this does introduce a few weaker sides. Top scorer contenders will be licking their lips at playing these teams, as it could mean a brace or hat-trick is a possibility.

Check the teams in each group, and predict a path to the final. Also, see what teams have a home city advantage; this is likely to be a major factor under this new format.

Euro 2020 Betting Tips

Knowledge is power in the world of football betting. Certainly, there will be one or two surprise results, but many matches will go according to the script. These are our top Euro 2020 betting tips.
Note, please don’t confuse these with Euro 2020 match predictions. You can find those in a different section of our site.

Only Bet Where There Is Value

England’s odds are the perfect example of this. Let’s be clear, we want the Three Lions to roar to glory as much as you do. But, it’s been 54 years since we last won a major tournament, and the low prices simply don’t represent true value to us.

Leave the emotion at the door, switch off reruns of Baddiel and Skinner, and bet with logic.

Furthermore, comparing bookmakers Euro 2020 betting odds is vital to ensure you get the best value bets on the market. There are 51 games in total throughout this tournament.

You may not be betting on them all, but if you intend on having several wagers over the four weeks, the little prices differences soon add up.

This Euro 2020 betting tip also applies when you have a flutter on individual matches. The best value is not predicting who will win, but how they will win. For instance, England starts its campaign against Croatia.

If you believe England will win easily, there will be better value betting the handicap rather than simply the match result.

That’s a staggering £100 in free bets there alone, and you only need to stake a total of £30 to get them.If you bet smart, that bankroll could well last you the whole tournament. Four weeks of football betting for £30! That is why joining multiple sites is the savvy thing to do.

Additionally, when looking for the best betting value for a particular match or market, having several options open to you gives you more choice. However, it’s important not to overextend yourself, as we explain in the following Euro 2020 betting tips.

Keep a Record of All Your Bets

This is most relevant if you are betting on Euro 2020 at more than one bookmakers.

You can view your bet history and check your active (unsettled) bets on each website, but it’s wise to compile all the information into one place, such as a Word document or even by sending an email to yourself.

You want to keep tabs on when you placed the bet, the match/market, stake, and odds. Also, add in your returns and keep a running total of your profit or loss margins for the entire event. As we touched upon above, it’s easy to lose track, and potentially bet more than your budget allows. That’s when the fun goes out of having a flutter, and no one wants that to happen.

Study Form

All of the leading Euro 2020 betting sites provide a wealth of statistics and analytics that you are free to utilise. Many new customers may not even realise this knowledge bank of results, player metrics, referee’s performances, and much more is only a click away.

Spotting good form is essential to successful betting, but it goes deeper. We spoke above about determining ‘how’ a team will win, studying the form can help you predict that more accurately.
As the saying goes, ‘You reap what you sow.’ There are no real short cuts you can take. Of course, make use of Euro 2020 betting tipster’s advice, but this should always be to confirm your own predictions.

Don’t simply blindly follow others, use their options to gauge different perspectives. No tipster is right all the time. You will not win every bet you place, but the more you know will undoubtedly help you win more frequently.

Host Cities

Having twelve host cities instead of one host country for this tournament is a unique concept. There are both advantages and disadvantages in our opinion. So let’s see how it goes

  • Johan Cruijff Arena, Amsterdam, the Netherlands
  • Olympic Stadium, Baku, Azerbaijan
  • La Cartuja, Seville, Spain
  • National Arena, Bucharest, Romania
  • Puskas Arena, Budapest, Hungary
  • Parken Stadium, Copenhagen, Denmark
  • Hampden Park, Glasgow, Scotland
  • Wembley Stadium, London, England
  • Football Arena, Munich, Germany
  • Olimpico, Rome, Italy
  • Saint Petersburg Stadium, Saint Petersburg, Russia

A quick tip for betting on Euro2020 – look for the teams which are playing at ‘home’. This should give them a slight edge (in some matches).

Wembley Stadium

Calendar Euro 2020

A month of glorious football. The only summers that beat this are the World Cup years, although it could be argued that the competition is nearly as strong in the Euros.

Usually, the previous winners, in this case, Portugal, would be the team that gets the tournament underway. However, that isn’t the case under this new format.

Euro 2020 Betting

Betting on Euro 2020 is different to having a punt on the Premier League each week. 51 matches crammed into 31 days is evidence of that. It can be easy to get caught up in the euphoria of the event.

In addition to hunting for the best Euro 2020 odds, and utilising the array of bonuses and promotions, it’s worth thinking about the different bet types. As there are multiple games on the same day, building accumulators is a great way to bet on Euro 2020.

This style of betting allows you to wager with smaller stakes, but the returns can be enormous. Furthermore, it provides interest in all the games, which makes the whole tournament more enjoyable. If you stick to four or five-fold Accas and plan your selections thoroughly, you’ll have a good chance of bagging a few winners.

Even low odds markets like over 1.5 goals can return a decent payout in a five-fold accumulator, so consider these as an alternative to merely placing singles. Also, bankroll management is essential when betting on Euro 2020.

Consider the size of your bankroll and the odds of your bet, and stake your wager proportionality. It doesn’t make sense to flat bet the same amount if one wager is at odds of 2/1 and the other is 20/1.

Euro 2020 Betting Sites

The customer is king in the world of online betting. It only takes a couple of minutes to register an account, claim your Euro 2020 betting offers, make a deposit and start betting.

Therefore, you don’t have to accept the first bookmaker you see. Take your time to choose the right one for you. Each betting site has strengths and weaknesses. It depends on what you value the most, as to which site suits you ‘best’.

To help get you started, here is a selection of UK licenced and regulated bookmakers where you can enjoy betting on Euro 2020.

Even if England don’t go all the way, it still promises to be a super summer of Euro 2020 betting. To round things off, here are a few questions and answers that we’ve received here at Pitch Invasion.

Where Can I Find Euro 2020 Betting Tips?

We’ve highlighted some general betting tips in this article to help improve your Euro 2020 experience. If you want betting tips in relation to match predictions, the best place to begin is by building your own knowledge.

All of the tools and information are readily available. Talk of Euro 2020 will engulf the online world, TV, radio, and other forms of media. The most-trusted bet on Euro 2020 you can place is one you completely believe in. Remember more knowledge, more power, more winners.

Who Are the Euro 2020 Favourites?

We’re still a few months away from the first whistle (at the time of writing). Currently, England is the favourite according to the bookmakers, but the real question is, who do you believe are the favourites?

The bookmaker’s favourite doesn’t always win. Just ask Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal who won it four years ago. Research is the key. Look at the squad depth, not just the first 11. Plan a possible route to the final. Consider home city advantage – we feel this could be a big factor.

Furthermore, certain teams will spend time travelling whereas others won’t. There are many intriguing variables brought about by this new format. Those savvy punters with their finger on the pulse will weigh up all these factors before betting on Euro 2020.

What Are the Best Betting Sites for Euro 2020?

There is no universal answer to this answer. Paul may like bookmaker A because it has a large welcome bonus but Jack prefers bookmaker B because it has a better Euro 2020 odds.

Ask yourself, what matters most to you? Massive bonuses, daily promotions, top odds, fast withdrawals, an easy-to-use betting app? When you have an idea of what things you expect from a betting site, it is much easier to choose the right one.

Our table above can serve as a guide of top-rated suggestions. From there, you’re on your own as to which is your favourite.

How to Watch Euro 2020?

For people in the UK, it is the traditional pairing of the BBC and ITV that will be sharing the broadcasting duties of Euro 2020. Fortunately, for many, international football tournaments are still kept away from the pay-per-view services of Sky and BT Sport.

It’s yet to be thrashed out exactly which matches will be on which channel. England’s games will be on one or the other unless they reach the final, in which case both broadcasters will screen it.

While it’s still unconfirmed, our belief is that online bookmakers that operate streaming services will not be licenced to stream Euro 2020 in the UK. If you are not a resident of the UK, however, you might be able to watch the action online.

When and Where Does Euro 2020 Take Place?

The first match is on the 11th of June at the Olimpico in Rome. There are another eleven host cities taking part in the competition (see the full list above). The final takes place on the 11th of July at Wembley Stadium in London, England.

The only question that remains is will it be England’s time to finally end the 54-year drought?
