Janne Andersson was over the moon having led the national team of his country to the World Cup finals at the expense of Italy, he was quick to praise his players at the Press conference after the match in Milan, but a Zlatan Ibrahimovic-related question kind of… spoiled his mood.
This is incredible! This player [Ibrahimovic] has stopped playing with Sweden a year and a half ago and we are still here talking about him
Andersson’s reaction was, when asked about what he would tell the Manchester United striker if he got in touch with him and told him that he’s interested in returning to the national team for the World Cup finals.
Gosh, we need to talk about the great players we have in this team I believe
the Sweden coach then said, adding
when Ibrahimovic was here with us we played a different style of football. Considering that he has decided to leave international football, he is a great champion, but we had to adapt and found another style.
As for the game in Milan, Andersson avoided going into tactical details, focusing on his players’ heart and guts instead.
Just like in the first leg against Italy, we showed what we are capable of collectively, it was a demonstration of our abilities under immense pressure. We have many heroes tonight. I am a bit moved but obviously very happy with the result
the Sweden coach said.
