There was speculation linking Roma with a move to sign a replacement for Mohamed Salah even before the Egyptian’s transfer to Liverpool became official, and now the rumors are even more intense, insisting that it’s Xherdan Shaqiri that the Giallorossi are after.
No, there is nothing in that
Stoke City chairman Peter Coates told the Stoke Sentinel, denying that there is any truth in the reports that the Premier League club are considering an offer from Roma.
There are no plans to sell him either. He seems very settled with us and towards the end of the season he came back from injury and did well
Coates also said, referring to Shaqiri’s return from an injury that kept him sidelined for practically half the season.
We are settled with him, too, and are hoping to see a good season from him next year
the Stoke City president added, looking absolutely confident that the Switzerland international will go nowhere.
Shaqiri himself said recently that he will only leave Stoke City in a move that would be ‘a step up’, Roma would definitely be that, but he is under contract at Stoke City for three more years, so nothing can happen without his club’s consent.
