Having scored his 200th Premier League goal, opening the score for Everton in their game versus Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, Wayne Rooney took to social media to share his excitement, his disappointment, and a little joke.
Disappointing not to come away with the win tonight but still a great point against a good side. Pleased to get on the scoresheet and reach 200 @premierleague goals!
the Everton striker posted on Instagram. With 183 goals for Manchester United and 17, now, for Everton, Rooney became only the second player in the Premier League’s history to reach the 200-goal mark, still a long way behind Alan Shearer though, who ended his career having netted 260 times.
Later on, Rooney posted on Twitter one of those photos that are worth more than… a thousand words, celebrating after his goal, with City fans… showing with gestures what they thought of him(…).
Always nice to see a few familiar faces
the former Man United striker wrote, teasing his former city rivals.
Rooney has now scored in both Everton Premier League matches after his return to the club, playing in all their three Europa League qualifiers as well. Everton have won four of those five games, drawing only against City.
