They saw their first two official bids for Philippe Coutinho rejected in a matter of hours, they read what the owners of Liverpool mentioned in a written statement, they’ve heard Jurgen Klopp say a million times that the Brazilian is not for sale this summer, and they still went on and submitted a third offer. No surprise, it was rejected, the new one as well.
According to reports, Barcelona offered €90m, which, after adding a series of bonuses, would eventually reach a number in the region of €130m. Not even that crazy amount of money was able to make Liverpool even consider it.
According to the same reports, this bid as well was rejected within minutes, with the Premier League club doing everything possible to make Barcelona (and Coutinho himself) understand that when they say ‘no’, they really do mean ‘no’.
The Brazil international remains unavailable for selection due to a back problem, and Liverpool will be without him when they play against Crystal Palace later today.
As for his desire to move to Barcelona, it remains to be seen how willing he is to take matters to extremes. He has already submitted a transfer request which was turned down.
