Everton will finish the season sitting seventh in the Premier League table, they want better than that next year, they have already started planning their moves, but it’s still unclear what will happen with Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley.
I expect that Lukaku will stay because until now I did not hear anything from the board that one club is asking about Lukaku. You like to keep your best striker, your top scorer, but we also need around that position more productivity
Ronald Koeman told reporters, ahead of Everton’s last PL match of the season at Arsenal, on Sunday.
Romelu has two years more on his contract. If there is interest in him then the board will know and they will come to the club if they have interest in the player. That is like everybody
the Dutch added. When it comes to Barkley though, the situation looks very different.
I don’t know. I don’t expect this to happen. If yes, I need to think about it
the Everton manager said, asked about what will happen if Barkley does not sign a new deal these coming weeks. Unlike Lukaku’s, Barkley’s contract expires in a year from now, and Koeman has implied that he could freeze his England international out, if he starts the next season without having signed a new deal at Everton.
I will have to talk about the situation but I expect an answer soon after the weekend and not another 10 days
