The prevalent feeling up until a week ago was that despite the temptations to leave AC Milan, Gianluigi Donnarumma would, eventually, agree on a new deal, and stay at the Rossoneri for at least a couple of more years.
Then, the… bomb fell, Mino Raiola, the agent of the 18-year-old goalkeeper, informed Milan that his client won’t be signing a new deal. Many, maybe most, were surprised. Donnarumma’s former agent, not at all.
When he was 14, I was working with him, we had arranged a deal with Inter, we had agreed, everything was set. Two days later I was informed that he had signed at Milan, without letting me know anything. He had talked with his parents, and apparently they had changed their mind about Inter
Giocondo Martorelli told Tuttomercatoweb Radio.
What they had signed a day earlier didn’t matter to them. Further than that, what can I say?
Donnarumma’s former agent said. Despite understanding Milan‘s frustration though, Martorelli urged them to accept an offer for the young keeper, and not even consider leaving him for a whole year in the fridge.
It wouldn’t make sense. If they get a good offer, they should accept it. With that money, they can get another goalkeeper, and further strengthen their squad. Sending him to the stands for a whole season shouldn’t be in their mind
he said. Donnarumma’s contract with Milan expires in a year from now.
