It was being reporting for at least two weeks now that the man who led the Blues to last season’s Premier League title was growing increasingly ‘angry’ with the club due to lack of progress in the transfers he has asked.
Some reports went that far as to claim that Antonio Conte was in contact with Inter, and could shock Chelsea with a decision to leave the club.
Turns out, the Italian manager is not that ‘angry’ with the Blues after all. Ending all speculation, he signed a new contract for two years, sending a clear message that it’s at Chelsea where he sees himself in the near future.
I am very happy to have signed a new contract with Chelsea. We worked extremely hard in our first year to achieve something amazing, which I am very proud of. Now we must work even harder to stay at the top
Conte told Chelsea’s official website after signing his new deal.
The Chelsea fans have given me so much support since I arrived here one year ago and it is important we continue to succeed together
the Italian added.
Antonio achieved incredible success last season, adapting to English football very quickly and leading us to the Premier League title. This new contract reflects our belief that he can continue to deliver results both domestically and as we return to European competition in the Champions League
Marina Granovskaia, Chelsea’s director, told the club’s official website from her part.
