Four years after Neymar moved from Santos to Barcelona, the Catalan club have moved to add another Peixe (Fish) player to their roster.
Lucas Lima, Santos’ number 10, an attacking midfielder who has been recently among Tite’s choices for the national team of Brazil as well, will be moving to Barcelona at the end of the year, right before his contract with the Brazilian club expires.
Lucas Lima’s current deal with Santos runs until December 31, which means that on July 1 he is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with Barcelona.
According to reports in Brazil and Catalonia, the 26-year-old will earn 4 million euros per year, and has agreed on a five-year deal, with another 5 million euros possibly landing on his laps if he meets certain targets, both personal and collective.
It should be noted that Lucas Lima is represented by N&N, the company run by Neymar’s father, something that made his agreement with Barcelona much easier.
We are happy for him, because of the player that he is. He’s a player whose quality is not up for debate, a Brazil international. He’s helped Santos a lot. He is going to be super happy at the team he goes to. We are going to miss him, but life goes on. We wish him a lot of luck in Barcelona
Santos teammate Bruno Henrique told ESPN, commenting on the news.
