Before the Match: Czech Republic vs Denmark
Czech Republic (3rd in Group D)
After just managing to qualify, the Czech Republic was against the Netherlands in their round of 16 match. Although not favourites, Patrick Schick’s teammates managed to get the better of the Oranje, who were expected to have a much longer tournament. The Czechs’ strategy to put pressure on the Oranje worked perfectly, and the Dutch were strongly outplayed.
Denmark (2nd in Group B)
After the terrible accident in the first match, no one would have imagined Denmark at this level of competition. However, the collective strength of the Danes was so great that they were able to overcome all the obstacles in front of them and qualify for both the round of 16 and the quarter-finals. Given the quality of their performance, their future may be even brighter.

Czech Republic vs Denmark: Match Analysis
Czech Republic: The Surprise
The Czech Republic got off to a perfect start against Scotland (2-0), but were then held to a 1-1 draw by Croatia before falling to England (1-0). However, the Czech Republic, as the best third-placed team, managed to qualify for the last 16 of the competition. In this match, they were up against a team that was considered a possible favourite for the final victory: the Netherlands. However, thanks to a well-practised game that kept the Oranje in check, Patrick Schick’s teammates managed to win 2-0 and qualify for the quarter-finals of the competition, helped by De Ligt’s foolish red card.
Denmark: Full of soul
After the terrible accident that befell Christian Eriksen and shocked the football world, no one really thought the Scandinavians were going to win. However, against all odds, they managed to qualify, finishing second in Group B behind Belgium, while showing a level of skill that has rarely been seen during this Euro 2020. The Danes made short work of the Welsh in the round of 16, winning 4-0.
