Paris Saint-Germain beat Lyon 2-0 at Parc des Princes to maintain their perfect record in the Ligue 1, six wins in as many games, but after the final whistle, all the talk was about Neymar asking Edinson Cavani to take the penalty they won in the 79th minute, only to be denied by his Uruguayan teammate.
It wasn’t the first penalty PSG won this season, with Cavani being the taker again and again. Neymar was not the main penalty taker at Barcelona the previous years, but in numerous occasions he didn’t even need to ask, as Lionel Messi himself took the initiative to let his Brazilian teammate give it a try.
The penalties are to be struck by a few players, one is Cavani and the other is Neymar. It takes a gentlemen’s agreement on the ground to hit the penalties. Afterwards, we will arrange internally for the penalties that are coming in, because I think both are able to score them, and I want the two to alternate in this exercise
Unai Emery told reporters after the match, which PSG won thanks to two own goals late in the game.
If there is no agreement, I will decide. I do not want it to be a problem for us
the PSG coach added, hoping that Cavani and Neymar will sort this out between them, and he won’t need to intervene, leaving at least one of them dissatisfied.
