Sevilla coach Jorge Sampaoli had every reason to feel bitter after last night’s 3-0 at Camp Nou, his team conceded three goals in a matter of a few minutes in the first half and then failed to get back into the game, but he did find it in him to pay Neymar a major compliment;
I congratulated him for his game and for the admiration I have for him. He is a worthy successor to Messi and is on the road to big things
the Argentinian coach told reporters, making no effort to hide how highly he thinks of the Barcelona super star.
I have a good relationship with him
Sampaoli added. Neymar, aged 25, having matured a lot at Barcelona these last four years, is indeed considered by many as Lionel Messi’s successor at Camp Nou, even though the Argentinian is showing no signs of slowing down, despite turning 30 this summer.
Barcelona‘s 3-0 win over Sevilla means they remain two points behind Real Madrid, with the Primera División leaders having a game in hand as well.
As for Neymar, this season he has scored less than last year, but as he said himself recently, he seems to be playing some of the best football of his career.
