Liverpool have confirmed that they will be traveling to Australia for a third time in five years, and will be facing Sydney FC on May 24.
We have so many incredible fans in Australia and there is always a brilliant atmosphere when we play over here
Liverpool legend Ian Rush said, commenting on the news.
This is the first time the lads will play in Sydney and they’re really looking forward to a great match against one of Australia’s best A-League teams
Rush added. It will indeed be Liverpool’s first visit to Sydney, but they have already played at sold-out stadiums in other cities in 2013 and 2015.
Most probably, the highlight of those two visits was listening to ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ sung by almost 100,000 people at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, four years ago.
Actually, Liverpool have -kind of- already visited Sydney, since it was a Reds Legends XI that played an exhibition match there last year.
Liverpool keep going back Down Under, and it looks like they intend to keep returning there, to the point of being considered almost a local.
As for Sydney FC, they will also be facing Arsenal this -southern hemisphere’s- winter, on July 13.
