Many members of Barcelona’s board of directors don’t even want to pronounce his name after ditching the club to move to Paris Saint-Germain, but Ivan Rakitic’s perspective on the whole Neymar issue couldn’t be more different.
For me personally, it was really hard to see him go, not only because he’s one of the biggest players; also, for me, he’s a big person
the Croatia international told the BBC World Service, talking about his former teammate.
He was really important for our dressing room, and for me he’s one of the best guys I know in football. So for me it was really a bad decision because I liked to have him in my team
the Barcelona midfielder said, a very interesting statement, as it comes at a moment that Neymar is seen as some sort of… villain, first for how he treated a young Celtic player at the end of PSG’s game in Glasgow, and then for trying to settle a penalty issue with teammate Edinson Cavani in the middle of a game.
We have to respect Neymar’s decision to move. If a team can buy him and he decides to leave Barcelona, we have to respect it and wish him the best of luck. Hopefully he can score a lot of goals and be happy in Paris, but we have to go on our way and be strong together without Neymar now
Rakitic also said, wishing his former teammate the best.
