A very-very pleased Mauricio Pochettino talked to Sky Sports right after his team’s 4-0 triumph over Watford, and even though he definitely didn’t try to downplay the enthusiasm at White Heart Lane, he did offer a different view regarding who is Tottenham’s main… rival these days.
We look at us, we need to see us. It’s important that we compete against us
the Argentinian manager said, in an obvious attempt to divert the discussion from ‘is it possible to close the gap to Chelsea?’, to ‘how better can Tottenham get?’
Not that Pochettino is not thinking about the gap separating his team from the Premier League leaders;
We have to try to win games and be ready if Chelsea fail. We need to keep pushing. We’re in a good position. We have great momentum. Belief is here
Tottenham’s manager said. No matter what, Pochettino was very pleased with the way his team played, and he talked about what helped them be so productive offensively.
It is true that we feel free because we are in the second position
the Argentinian said, ‘free’, something that explains the initiatives several Tottenham players took during the game, initiatives characteristic of players who feel… relaxed, and full of confidence.
