It looked rather obvious even without watching the replay of Fernando Llorente’s goal. The Spaniard was offside in the 12th minute, when he opened the score for Tottenham at Swansea City, his former club.
Then, in the second half, Davinson Sanchez got spared, somehow, by the referee, not seeing a second yellow card for a foul on Martin Olsson.
Maybe it was offside. Always in football you need some luck to open the games and perhaps Swansea are right to complain
Mauricio Pochettino told reporters after the match at Liberty Stadium, which Tottenham won 2-0, with Dele Alli scoring late to put the game to bed.
We were all were worried about the second yellow card. It wasn’t bad but the fans can make an impression on the referee and make a problem and we prefer to take off
the Spurs manager also said, talking about Sanchez’s substitution, soon after escaping a red card.
The linesman apologised about the game, it was a mistake. Pochettino is a clever manager because he substituted Sanchez in that moment and he knows why he substituted him
Swansea manager Carlos Carvalhal said from his side, commenting on the two moments that pretty much put their stamp on the game, definitely influencing the final score.
