Lionel Messi received a 21-month sentence after found guilty of avoiding paying almost 4 million euros in taxes in Spain.
Cristiano Ronaldo is accused of concealing much more during the 2011-2014 period, and will soon have to defend himself in a court of law in the same country.
According to newspaper El Pais, more big names of the football world are under investigation, and the authorities have already gathered enough evidence(?) to accuse Jose Mourinho as well.
The Portuguese spent three years at Real Madrid, and according to the report he avoided paying almost 4 million euros in taxes during that period.
Neither he nor his representatives have commented yet on the report, but he will have to, sooner or later, especially if the Spanish authorities take it a step further and officially press charges.
La Liga president Javier Tebas defended Ronaldo the other day, saying that
these days everyone is found guilty of tax evading in Spain. Seems like the authorities are targeting everyone with money
but just because the authorities in Spain decided to -finally- intensify their efforts to fight tax evasion, doesn’t necessarily mean that their accusations are blank, as Tebas suggested.
