Belgium beat Czechia 1-0 in a friendly game as they’re preparing for their World Cup qualifier against Estonia, and after the game, Roberto Martinez was asked to comment on Eden Hazard’s serious injury in training.
There was nobody near him when it happened. He wanted to move from his left foot to his right foot as he lined up a shot and then it happened
the Belgium coach said, still unable to believe how can someone get injured that seriously in such an ‘innocent’ moment while training.
We were all in shock and immediately realised it was serious. I am very disappointed with Eden’s injury. We all know he is a great player, but not everybody sees he is a great human being and leader for us as well. He was working hard to be ready for these two games and then this happens
Martinez told reporters.
As for Hazard, he underwent surgery on his injured right ankle, and took to Instagram to assure everyone that
Everything went well with my ankle operation, now I start the road to recovery! I will be stronger. Thank you for your support!!
