No Diego Costa, no Nemanja Matic, obviously no John Terry, but Alvaro Morata is in, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Antonio Rudiger as well, plus, more players should still be added to the roster before the transfer window shuts down.
Frank Lampard is… doing the math, numbers and quality-wise, he looks at who’s left Chelsea, what new faces are on board, and is left feeling that the Blues can actually do ‘it’ again, can win back-to-back Premier League titles.
I admit I have gone for Chelsea to win it with my heart, but a bit of my head too, because they are a team who knows how to win. Obviously it is not an easy question to say who will win the Premier League this year, it is as open as it has ever been in recent years, but I just feel for Chelsea, even despite losing big players like Diego Costa and Nemanja Matic, Alvaro Morata has come in and Tiemoue Bakayoko for Matic
the former Chelsea captain told BT Sport, balancing between what his heart is telling him, and how his mind is evaluating the changes in the team’s roster.
One thing is for sure, Lampard is confident one of his favorite players, Diego Costa, will be very-very hard to replace.
I am a big fan of Diego Costa, I don’t underrate him and I don’t think any Chelsea fans do. I think Costa was popular there because of the all-round striker he is, he is up there with the best in the world in terms of being a big target man
Lampard said, not 100% sure that Morata will prove as influential on the pitch as Diego Costa did last season.
