It could become official even later today, judging by what Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas told French newspaper Le Progres.
The deal, which should be done in a day or two, will happen for something between €45 and €50 million. To be close to €50m is something unique, and will be a record for Arsenal and a record for Lyon
Aulas said, talking about the agreement that seems to exist between him and Arsenal regarding the transfer of Alexandre Lacazette.
One must also take into account that traditionally, a club like Arsenal do not have the habit of spending so much for one player
the Lyon president added, almost… proud of the fact that exactly a club with Arsenal’s philosophy decided to… break the bank to sign Lacazette.
The 26-year-old is expected to fly to London today, agree on some last details, have his medical, and sign the contract that will make him the most expensive transfer in Arsenal’s history, more expensive than Mesut Ozil’s from Real Madrid as well.
Lacazette was going to join Atletico Madrid, but the transfer ban imposed on the Spanish club threw the ‘done’ deal to the dustbin.
