Manchester United are taking on Premier League leaders Chelsea later today, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic knows he will have to do much better than against Anderlecht, a few days ago.
United’s inability to finish the game off, made Jose Mourinho point the finger at his attackers after the final whistle in Brussels, and the Swedish striker acknowledged that his manager was right to do so.
I think he is right in this matter because I was not feeling good in the sense of I was feeling tired. But it is not an excuse because I still have to do well, I still have to do much more and much better than I did. I speak for myself and Anderlecht was not a good performance
Ibrahimovic told reporters ahead of United’s game against Chelsea, looking optimistic that the Old Trafford side will finish the season having achieved one of their biggest goals, qualify for next season’s Champions League.
We are still grinding, we are still pushing because we have the Europa League and the end of the Premier League. We fight for it
the former Sweden international said, before paying Chelsea a number of compliments, while also mentioning a key detail that has allowed the Blues to have such a successful season in the Premier League.
I think they are a good team. Overall a good team and then of course they are playing once a week which makes a difference. They have not been playing in Europe this season and they went out from the League Cup early. But they have a great team, or else they would not be number one
Ibrahimovic stated. United are currently 5th, but with games in hand, and a win today would be a major boost in their fight to finish in the top-four.
