It started out as a simple rumour but the more time passes, more signs appear that Pep Guardiola is indeed very much interested in adding Dani Alves to Manchester City’s roster.
According to an increasing number of reports, the Catalan manager has included the name of his former player at Barcelona in the list he has handed to his City associates, seeing in the 34-year-old Brazilian right-back an excellent solution for that position.
This, despite his age, which Guardiola mentioned repeatedly last year, when talking about already-departed from the Etihad Stadium Pablo Zabaleta.
Alves signed a two-year contract at Juventus last summer, he has a year left, but according to the same reports, the Italian club will not stand in his way if he expresses the will to move to England.
Actually, just last week, Alves told reporters
England? I would love to play there. I had several offers from English clubs last summer, but I wanted to play in Italy. I did, I’m happy with my choice, but as for England, you never know… I would definitely love to play there before I retire.
Maybe it’ll happen sooner, rather than later.
