Borussia Dortmund have announced that 20-year-old right winger Ousmane Dembélé remains suspended after that training session he inexcusably missed following Barcelona’s official bid for him.
According to reports, the German club officials feel that the young player crossed a line with that action of his, and are negotiating a deal with Barcelona that will not be for less than €100m.
This is not the first time the Blaugrana look set to sign Dembélé. According to former Bayern Munich technical director Michael Reschke, the Catalan club came very close to signing him last season, only to have their offer rejected by the player himself(!).
I can assess the situation of the player very well, because we were also interested, from Munich’s point of view. Last year the situation was such that Barcelona and Bayern Munich also wanted to sign the player. Barcelona was already the favourite
Reschke told Sport Bild, talking about the time Dembélé was about to leave Rennes and the Ligue 1.
However, he deliberately chose Borussia Dortmund, because he has also credibly declared that he was not yet ready to play at one of the absolute top clubs
Stuttgart’s (for a few weeks now) sporting director said, adding
it is not so easy for him to be confronted with such figures and visions
excusing, up to a point, Dembélé’s choices recently, namely missing a training session without any reason (but to force Dortmund to sell him).
