Brazil are about to face Australia in a friendly game in Melbourne, just a few days after a 1-0 defeat to Argentina in the same city. One player who is going to miss this match is Gabriel Jesus, having gotten injured in the dying minutes of the game versus the Argentines.
There was no bad intention. It was a very normal challenge, it was not deliberate
the young Brazilian striker told SporTV, referring to Manchester City teammate Nicolas Otamendi, the one who accidentally fractured his colleague’s left eye socket.
His arm came down in a normal way and unfortunately I was on my way up. We were shocked. But there were no bad intentions on his part
the 20-year-old added, revealing that he talked to Otamendi after the game was over.
We talked afterwards in the dressing room and he sent me a message. He is a good guy. These things are part of the game and he did not do anything bad
Jesus said. As for how serious his injury is, he did have to fly back to Brazil, and maybe he will undergo surgery, but he seems not to worry too much about any of that.
We do not know the exact extent yet, but it is nothing to worry about. If I have to undergo surgery, then so be it. After my holiday, I will return to Manchester at 100 per cent
the revelation of City’s second half of last season said.
