Reports in Catalan and German media almost on a daily basis insist that Barcelona have reached a verbal agreement with Ousmane Dembele to sign a five-year contract, but no such deal can go on without Dortmund’s consent, and Borussia’s sporting director denied that the two clubs are in negotiations.
Ousmane Dembele has a long-term contract and he is in our plans. There are no negotiations. Ous will play for BVB next season
Michael Zorc told Funke-Mediengruppe, looking 100% sure of what he said, leaving no space for misinterpretation.
Even so, Catalan and German media claim that sources very close to the player (most probably his agent, even though they don’t name him) consider Dembele’s will to join Barcelona as something that should be taken for granted, and that sooner or later the two clubs will find the right number, the right amount of money for the transfer to be realized.
Earlier in June, the young France international revealed that Barcelona had shown interest in him even before signing for Dortmund, last summer, and implied that one day he would feel honored to be given the chance to play for the Blaugrana.
