A day before Chelsea’s FA Cup final against Arsenal, a game that could give the Blues another title and a memorable double after lifting the Premier League trophy already, David Luiz revealed that he accepted a pay cut in order to return to Chelsea on the last day of the transfer period last August.
I cut my salary to come back here. But it’s OK. God has given me a lot so I’m very happy with this
the Brazilian told reporters, before explaining why he took the ‘risk’, as he called it, to leave PSG and return to Chelsea.
I don’t always like the easy life. That’s why I took a risk and I’m very happy. It was the right decision. I love the risk. In your life if you don’t take a risk you’re not going to taste something new. Not just in your professional life, I think it’s every day
the Brazil international said, who did have it kind of easy in France playing with PSG, and winning consecutive league titles, without major competition.
Luiz talked about Antonio Conte as well, calling his coach
a great person, a great character and very passionate.
He also revealed that the day he arrived at Chelsea, Conte had a private conversation with him, telling him
you are the player I want in my team and to improve my team.’
