It has been a common secret for weeks now, if not months, Diego Costa wants to play under Diego Simeone again, at Atletico Madrid, but as if it wasn’t… obvious enough already, he made sure to scream it out loud, for everyone to hear.
My destination is already made. I must return to Atletico Madrid
the Spain international said in a statement from his native Brazil, where he has been training alone for weeks now, refusing to return to London.
It turns out that there is the impasse that Chelsea does not want to release me. But I believe that this situation will be resolved soon and I will return to Spain
the Chelsea player also said, looking – for some reason – optimistic that a solution will be reached the coming days, or at least couple of weeks.
The Premier League club have already fined him for not showing up in training as he was expected. Costa, from his side, has taken legal action against the club, pushing for his release, claiming that both Chelsea and mostly their manager, Antonio Conte, have treated him in an unprofessional and insulting manner.
Even if a solution is reached though, and he does return to his beloved Atletico Madrid, he won’t be able to play before January, since the La Liga club are banned from signing new players during this transfer period.
