Chelsea beat West Brom 1-0 at The Hawthorns, with Michy Batshuayi coming off the bench to score the only goal of the game eight minutes from time. The Blues now have a ten-point gap between them and second-placed Tottenham, an impossible one to bridge in three games, allowing Antonio Conte and his players to already celebrate winning the title.
The Italian was asked in the Press conference after the match which was the key moment in the season, and he didn’t think too much before answering.
I think the decision to switch to three at the back changed our season. Before, we didn’t have the right balance
the Chelsea manager said, going back to the consecutive defeats to Liverpool and Arsenal.
After the bad defeats to Liverpool and Arsenal, I wanted to change and find a new system, and in my mind there was this option to play with a 3-4-3 because I know the characteristics of the players would allow it, and give us more solidity
Conte said, almost… thankful to the Reds and the Gunners for the precious lesson they taught him early in the season.
Now it’s important to rest, and for it to become a fantastic season we have to win the FA Cup
the Italian added, reminding everyone that the season is not over yet.
