At 32, hardly having played since last May, Bastian Schweinsteiger has his fair share of doubters in the United States, there are several people who don’t expect him to be able to keep up with MLS’s ‘run and gun’ style of play, but seems like the German has already passed his first test.
Chicago Fire fans and journalists alike flooded the arrivals’ hall of the city’s international airport to catch a glimpse of the latest star addition to MLS. The club broadcast Schweinsteiger’s arrival live on their facebook page, and obviously welcomed him with a tweet as well, using the hashtag ‘#CHIweinsteiger’, being creative with his name.

The German seemed to be loving the… chaos all around him. Not that he’s a stranger to this kind of atmosphere and expression of love/admiration. He definitely missed that at Manchester United though this last season, with Jose Mourinho making it crystal clear right after taking charge that he didn’t count on him.
According to reports, Chicago Fire offered ‘Schweini’ 4.5 million dollars for an one-year contract, having failed earlier to attract other players of fame equal to that of the man who won everything with Bayern Munich before moving to Man Utd almost two years ago.
