“In life you never know if you’ll get a second chance”, Antonio Rudiger wrote Roma fans through his social media accounts, admitting that he simply couldn’t resist the temptation/challenge to play in England.
The 24-year-old defender signed a five-year deal at Chelsea, with the Premier League club paying Roma, according to reports, some £34 million.
It’s a great feeling because not every player has the opportunity to join a huge club like this
Rudiger told Chelsea’s official website after putting on his new jersey for the first time.
I am looking forward to meeting up with my new team-mates and I’m very proud to officially become a Chelsea player
the Germany international, winner of the Confederations Cup recently, also said.
A little earlier, the former Roma player had written a short message on his social media, aimed at the fans of the Giallorossi.
For me the Premier League is the most challenging league in the world, and Chelsea with Antonio Conte and his style of defending will be the next step forward for me
the German defender wrote explaining his decision, before thanking everyone at Roma for the two ‘amazing’ years he spent there.
