More and more Arsenal fans may be expressing their wish to see a new face leading their team next season from the bench, but Sol Campbell remains one of those who believe that the club would be making a big mistake by putting an end to the Wenger era this summer.
You’ve got to respect him. He’s qualified for the Champions League for the last 20-odd years, that is phenomenal. Not many sides have done that. And he’s brought a lot to the side playing-wise, philosophy-wise
the ex Arsenal defender said talking to ESPN, adding that Wenger “has steered the club through all the financial woes with the crash around the world and now they are on the other side and they are a very strong side”, as if saying that it would be ungrateful of Arsenal to let the French manager go, after all he’s done for them.
Campbell, currently working as assistant manager of the Trinidad and Tobago national side, also feels that the Gunners need more players like Alexis Sánchez.
He has everything. If you want to win things, you’ve got to have more guys like that. He would easily play in our side
Campbell said, referring to the legendary “Invincibles” Arsenal team that won the Premier League in 2004 without losing a single match.
