Real Madrid just finished a brilliant season winning the Champions League and the LaLiga title, Cristiano Ronaldo was obviously one of the stars in their campaign, but according to a report in his native Portugal, he’s not just thinking about leaving Spain, but he has already decided so(!).
Newspaper A Bola reports that the superstar of Los Blancos is going to announce his decision at the end of his short vacation, which he will enjoy after the Confederations Cup in Russia is over.
As for why he has decided(?) to leave Real Madrid, the newspaper claims that a very reliable source very close to the player told them that Ronaldo feels ‘persecuted’ in Spain, after being accused, recently, of tax evading.
The Portuguese feels he is being the target of an investigation that has no real base, only because some people have decided to… go after him, inventing accusations.
Up until several hours after the report came to light, Ronaldo’s representatives had not commented on it, fueling speculation that no matter how… unbelievable the news looks, it may actually correspond to the truth.
Ronaldo is accused of having concealed income of about 15 million euros, and if found guilty and sentenced to more than two years, he should, by law, serve time in prison.
Lionel Messi was sentenced to 21 months in a similar case, and only avoided prison because his ‘non-violent’ offence landed him a sentence smaller than 24 months.
