Their billionaire owner Shu Yuhui said a couple of days ago that Tianjin Quanjian have already agreed with two or three big players to move to China after the end of the European season, but the club issued a statement denying that Diego Costa is one of them.
With regard to the widespread rumours that Chelsea’s Diego Costa is expected to join Tianjin Quanjian, our club want to clarify that so far, we have not been communicating with Diego Costa regarding the transfer
the statement read, something that someone could read in various ways, actually, since the club have included the words ‘so far’, as if implying that Diego Costa is a target indeed, but haven’t secured his services, not just yet.
It’s no secret that Tianjin tried to sign the Spain international in January. The fact that Costa himself said at some point that he’s happy at Chelsea but not necessarily with his life in London, fueled even bigger speculation regarding a move away from the Blues and the Premier League.
Costa returned to scoring recently, after spending almost two months without finding the net in the Premier League, and remains one of Chelsea’s main ‘weapons’ in the fight to win the title.
