Betfair, Betfred and Bet365 are among the most respected and celebrated names in the recent history of sports betting. The empire they’ve collectively established is nothing short of epic – almost a monopoly, given their success to date. Welcome Bonuses Compared – Betfred
The welcome bonus currently offered for new customers at Bet365 is solid enough, but not necessarily the most generous on the market. For the time being, new signups are being offered a 100% match bonus on their first deposit up to a maximum value of £50. Meaning that if you credit your account with between £5 and £50, you’ll qualify for a bonus of the same amount. However, the bonus funds won’t be unlocked until the customer has wagered the same amount as the bonus in their own money. Once the bonus funds are released, play-through requirements of 3X apply, before the bonus and any winning can be withdrawn.
Newcomers to Betfair are likewise offered an introductory deal-sweetener, which in this case comes in the form of 200% match bonus on first deposits, up to a maximum value of £40. Deposit £10, receive a £20 bonus and play with £30, or deposit £20 to obtain the maximum £40 bonus and play with £60. As for the terms and conditions, there’s a five-times play-through requirement attached, which is a little on the heavy side. However, players are given a full 90 days to meet the wagering requirements, which should be long enough to make it happen.
As for new customers at Betfred, the current welcome bonus is worth £30 in free bets when depositing and wagering at least £10 in real money. These free bet worth £30 are then valid for seven days and can be used to bet on any sports markets across the entire Betfred sportsbook. There are very few additional terms and conditions added to the offer with Betfred, which is comparatively rare for introductory offers.
In terms of the winner, Betfred very slightly outperforms both Betfair and Bet365 for one reason only – simplicity. Find out more about the Betfred promo code now.
Betting Markets – Betfair
The range of betting market available at Bet365 is nothing short of outstanding. While it’s clear that Bet365 focuses more heavily on UK and European football than other sports, they still offer access to a huge range of sports and associated markets. This full list includes American Football, Australian Rules, Baseball, Basketball, Bowls, Boxing/UFC, Cricket, Cycling, Betting, Darts, Futsal, Gaelic Sports, Golf, Greyhound Races, Horse Racing, Ice Hockey, Lotto, Motor Sports, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Snooker, Soccer, Specials, Speedway, Swimming, Tennis, Virtual Sports, Volleyball, Water Polo and Winter Sports. Bet365 covers all major and popular minor events alike, along with a wide variety of leagues from all over the world.
While it’s possible to bet on pretty much any sport or event you can think of at Betfair, this isn’t the only notch in the brand’s belt. While the list of betting markets is comparable with those of both Bet365 and Betfred, the fact that customers also have access to the awesome Betfair Exchange takes things to a whole new level. The sports available technically remain the same, but open the door to pretty much infinite customer-to-customer wagering the likes of which is limitless in scope. It’s a nifty approach to sports betting that just has to be checked out.
Betfred excels not only in available sports, but also in coverage of specials. Along with total coverage of Horse Racing, Football, Cricket, Tennis, American Football, Baseball, Basketball, Bowls, Boxing, Cycling, Darts, Golf, Greyhounds, Ice Hockey, Motor Racing, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Snooker, UFC & MMA, customers can gain access to a wide variety of non-sports markets like TV shows, politics, music and other special events. So whatever it is you happen to be into, you’re bound to find plenty of it at Betfred!
As for the winner, much as it might be a controversial decision, it has to go to Betfair. It’s not that the markets are Betfred and Bet365 aren’t outstanding, but once you’ve have a go with the Betfair Exchange, it might just change the way you look at sports betting for life!
Odds – Betfred (but just)
To illustrate how the odds pan out at the three bookies, here’s a quick overview of the same market available via Bet365, Betfair and Betfred alike; FC Porto vs Leicester City on December 7, 2016:
|Porto Win||Leicester Win||Draw||Porto 2-0||Leicester 2-0||Porto 3-2|
Most of the differences are negligible to say the least, though in some instance Betfred’s odds come out superior. In terms of overall value for money, this one is too close to call.
Mobile Apps – Bet365
Compatible with the vast majority of iOS and Android devices alike, the Bet365 mobile app is nothing short of a work of art. It’s one of the most user-friendly mobile sports betting platforms the market has ever seen, featuring every key feature and functionality of the main platform. The live streaming may also be the best of any mobile app so far. The inclusion of push notifications to keep customers up to date at all times is also excellent, just as are the special promos exclusively for mobile customers.
Over at Betfred, the mobile app for iOS and Android devices looks slick and performs with real panache. It’s extremely easy to use and scores big points for providing access to a wide variety of outstanding promos, which for the most part center around football betting. But while it’s a genuinely user-friendly experience, access to betting markets isn’t anywhere near as extensive as with Bet365, or other rival apps for that matter. In addition, the lack of live streaming via the app seats it firmly behind the competition in this respect.
If you’re going with Betfair, you’ll find the mobile app to be one of the best in terms of design and overall performance. An outstanding range of promotion for mobile customers helps to keep the action interesting at all times, while the live streaming facility is decent enough, if far from the best available. In addition, in-play betting coverage for mobile customers feels a little watered down.
By a pretty huge margin, Bet365’s mobile app outpaces and outperforms its rivals in almost every key department. For the full low down on this bookie’s app, check out our dedicated article.
Streaming/Live Options – Bet365
With more than 70,000 live streaming events on offer to customers, Bet365 is a market leader when it comes to live action. As already mentioned, the fact that the live streaming service in its entirety can be accessed via mobile is also nothing short of fantastic. All live streaming action is provided 100% free of charge for all customers and it’s safe to say that the quality and quantity of what’s on offer are both largely unrivalled.
Claiming a whopping 100,000+ live streaming events, Betfair stands head and shoulders above most in this department. The service is available free of charge to anyone with a funded account, though certain events mean placing a wager before being able to access the live stream. It’s just a bit of a shame the same depth and quality of live streaming isn’t extended to the mobile Betfair experience.
As for Betfred, it’s a similar tale of tens of thousands of thousands of events available for live streaming – all free of charge to customers with credited accounts, aside from key horse races that ask wagers of at least £1. It’s a highly international affair with the range and extent of sports covered, thought the primary focus is UK and European football.
While Betfair may claim to deliver a most extensive range of live streaming events than Bet365, the general package at Bet365 is just that little bit more polished. And of course, we can’t overlook the importance of live streaming via mobile, which Bet365 does better than just about anyone else.
Our Verdict: Bet365
Pitting Bet365, Betfair and Betfred against each other makes for a seriously close-run race. In truth, each and every one of them has its own unique plus points, but if you had to single out just one front-runner, it has to be Bet365. In terms of live streaming, the mobile app and the general package on the whole, there’s very little about what’s on offer than isn’t to like. That being said, Betfair ranks just the tiniest fraction behind – the epic Betfair Exchange alone representing more than enough reason to check both operators out.
