He was one of their targets, he has played for them before, at the start of his career, but knowing that at Bayern his chances of regular game time would be limited, he chose to stay at a team where he is… king.
Sandro Wagner extends his contract with TSG until 2020
Hoffenheim announced through their social media accounts, putting once and for all an end to Bayern’s interest in the 29-year-old striker.
I am happy that I could agree this deal to stay with TSG. I want to help us achieve even greater success in the future. We face a challenge with our first participation in an international competition, which we will meet with great ambition
Wagner told the club’s official website, referring to Hoffenheim’s amazing opportunity to play Champions League football, after finishing fourth in last season’s Bundesliga. They will have to go through qualifiers though, before reaching the glamorous group stage.

With Robert Lewandowski looking unsatisfied by the way his teammates and coach ‘cost’ him the title of Bundesliga’s top scorer last season, and with Thomas Muller having just had his worst campaign in years, Bayern are eager to add another reliable striker to their roster. It won’t be Wagner, though.
