The first reports after yesterday’s explosions that occurred close to Borussia Dortmund’s bus, mentioned that there was only one ‘lightly’ injured, Marc Bartra. Later on though, his situation was deemed more serious that initially estimated, and was taken to a hospital to be operated on his wrist and hand, as soon as possible.
Diagnosis of @MarcBartra: breakage and sprinklings of debris on the right wrist. He’s currently in surgery. Good improvement, Marc!
the German side tweeted soon afterwards, letting everyone know that Bartra’s operation had been a success.
As for the rest of the players, and everyone closely involved with the team, especially those who were near the bus outside their hotel the moment of the explosions, they are obviously still in shock.
The team and the coaches are of course in shock. We must now channel it in some way. We’re all shocked. Nobody thought about a football match in those minutes
Dortmund’s chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke told Sky soon after the incident.
As for the Police, they are treating the incident as an attack targeted at Dortmund and last night’s UEFA Champions League quarterfinal against Monaco in general.
The investigation is being carried out based on suspicion of attempted murder. A letter was found near the crime scene. We are checking its authenticity intensively
public prosecutor Sandra Lucke said in a statement.
