It took them longer than what most expected, but they reached a deal nonetheless. Chelsea announced the signing of Tiemoue Bakayoko, one of Monaco’s miracle-men last season.
Welcome to Chelsea, @TimoeB08!

Despite his young age he already has plenty of experience as a French title winner and having competed in the latter stages of the Champions League, we believe he will add considerable quality to our squad
Michael Emenalo, the sporting director of the Blues, told the club’s official website.
As for the France international himself (he has just one appearance with them, but he’s sure to earn more), he stopped one step before calling himself a Chelsea fan as a kid.
I am very happy to be here and to join this great team. I have grown up watching Chelsea. Signing was the natural thing for me because it is a club I loved very much in my childhood
he said, before adding how excited he is at the prospect of working with Antonio Conte.
I am now looking forward to evolving under this fantastic coach and alongside so many great team-mates
Bakayoko told Chelsea’s official website.
According to reports, Monaco made 45 million euros from this deal, plus some bonuses that were included in the agreement and will find their way to Monaco’s coffers depending on which titles the player will win with Chelsea.
