This game, scheduled to take place on 8 February 1958, never took place because of the Munich Air Disaster two days earlier. All the programmes for the game that never happened were supposed to have been incinerated by the printers, but a few copies were taken. Classic Programme #20: London vs. Frankfurt, 1955

The latest in our classic programme covers series, a rare outing by “London” in the European Inter-City Cup Competition, better known as the Fairs Cup, and ultimately what became the UEFA Europa League (and in-between the UEFA Cup). The tournament was originally created to promote city trade fairs, and thus, for some time each city was only allowed one team — “London” appeared in 1955, the inaugural year of the competition.

The latest in our classic programme covers series, today we see San Jose Earthquakes manager Frank Yallop in an earlier existence, receiving his testimonial rewarding nine years of first team service for Ipswich Town (he would go on to stay at the club for another four years).

The latest cover in our classic programme cover series features a 1972 American Soccer League matchup (at this time the ASL was a regional competitor to the NASL, and a league that lasted from 1933 to 1983). I give you the wonderfully named St Louis Frogs and the Cincinnati Comets. The Comets would win the ASL this same year.
