neutrality be damned... i would hope public opinion is firmly on the player's side. i know i am.
in the past MLS was on very shaky financial ground and it was understandable that they had to shortchange the players to stay in business, but things are different now. even in bad economic times they are expanding, ratings are up, the 'summer of soccer' was a great success, so there should be no excuse not to give the players a raise... and how can they possibly justify not sharing the transfer fees with the players??? it just makes the owners look like shysters...

Fair enough, though I don't think the logic of your final paragraph matches that of the previous paragraph....

Torontonians were up in arms originally at even the possibility that the Argos might want to move to BMO when it was broached two years ago.

I'll say now what I said then: sorry about your luck. It ain't your facility.

I feel for you about the gridlines and all that and the wear-and-tear on the grass that's going down.

But, while the club contributed to its construction, the taxpayers are on the hook for a lot of BMO's construction and ongoing costs. If it makes sense for them, financially (and I don't know if it does or not, but one might presume so), that's what's going to happen, no matter how many protests soccer fans do.

And if fans of (American) football had been so bitchy in 1996, MLS wouldn't have been able to launch at all, seeing as how all 10 teams played in pro or college football facilities (if you count the Cotton Bowl, which isn't used that often for American football).
