No, we have a different definition of success. :-)

If u want to discount ALL his success as an assistant coach then fine. But in ess than 2 seasons, he's led the fire to within 45 minutes of an MLS Cup final vs. NY, a SuperLiga Final loss in PKs and the 3rd best record in MLS this season. If you really and truly aren't satisfied with those results and believe the coach should be fired, then we simply have a different definition of failure.

I'm sorry Peter.

Please enlighten me as I have not worked inside a professional team. But why should being an assistant coach when previous hardware was won, be considered as part of Denis' legacy as a head coach.

I'm sure he helped Bob and Dave. But it was those two men who led the team. Right? I guess I'm trying to get at the dynamic of how the team leadership works and how much responsibility does an assistant coach have for the results on the field.

I understand that Denis has been around since the beginning. And that he loves his team. But a lot of other people who did, too, are no longer on the team. They have championship rings and Open Cup medals, too. But they were traded or cut when the team's leaders decided that they weren't performing as well as they should have for the money they were being paid.

You say (I think it's you saying it above) that a coach should be let go when he's lost the confidence of the majority of the locker room. No matter what the results are on the field? I understand that good coaches who don't earn silverware still have the confidence of their players and owners (Nicole, Wegner, Benitez). But what good is that to the fans, particularly in MLS were almost any team can make the playoffs?

In a way -- with all due respect -- you're to blame for this, when you think about it. You created a team that did the unthinkable and won the Double in its first year and then was always in the hunt for another MLS Cup while always playing exciting football. Your teams built up expectations for excellence. And now you're surprised when we, the fans, don't get it, to try and seek a solution? Aren't you playing favorites here?

To answer the above question, it's difficult to retain a coach once he's lost the confidence of the majority of the locker room.

.maybe this ignorance of Denis' accomplishments is affecting me as well. I forgot to mention that in his FIRST year as head coach, the man with four rings earned for the Fire came within 45 minutes of taking his team to the MLS Cup final where they likely would've beaten the Red Bulls.
