Yes. They did do a pre-game show for Gold Cup. I remember thinking at the time that it was pretty interesting since the game was on FSC (who were also doing a pre-game show). I don't think the whole show was live from the stadium, but they definitely had a guy live remote from the stadium.

So, the English telecast is on "mun2" then? I think I saw a reminder from Comcast about it being free for the game. But there was no detail on what channel that even is. I'd really appreciate it if someone could shed some light. I can't miss this game!

But geez, the American media -- although getting better -- just continues to disappoint the heck out of me. Arguably the biggest qualifier of the campaign, and it's hidden away so that most people will never know it's even happening. So frustrating. At least the ESPN pre-game show might help.

RW -- I don't remember ESPN doing a pre-game for the Gold Cup final, was it at the stadium live before the game? But if so, I'll be sure to correct US Soccer's PR guy!

The qualifier is in English on TeleMundo's little sister station, which is being made available for free to satellite and (I think) cable subscribers for the day. I'm sure someone else can provide more details...

"special on ESPN outside the Azteca before U.S.-Mexico World Cup qualiier next week “marks the first time in its 30-year history ESPN will air a pre-game show for a soccer event it is not televising.”

Um. Unless I was hallucinating, ESPN just did a pre game for the Gold Cup final, which they did not televise -- it was on FSC.

And does this mean that game is only going to be televised in Spanish?

No, of course not KT. But he's the one who'll give the nod in the public announcement.

It's not up to Garber exclusively to give STL the nod, is it?
