Great genetics are not necessarily a precursor for success in the game. Brazilian Legend Pelé has often said that soccer stars are not born. Without proper soccer training a player will never reach his full potential. It is true that great speed would benefit someone who plays as a winger but would not be as useful for a goalkeeper. The greatest advantage of soccer is that it is not as discriminating as basketball or volleyball. There are no limitations when it comes to physique and it all comes down to individual soccer skills.

I think what the article gets at will be 'explored' and 'mentioned' by the types noted i.e. Perez, Silvio B, the English premiership elite and so on. Other hangers on and wannabes such as Celtic, Rangers and Man City will also then get in on the act and sniff about should a super league be mentioned.

However, I do think UEFA and FIFA have enough power to shake off such mentioned breakways attempts through re-jigging and and developing the tournaments that are played at the moment.

There are is never going to be a level playing field for clubs whatever competitions are played. Its good to see smaller teams in Europe at the group or later stages but the shear amount of clubs sides, different skill levels and professional infrastructure means that no everyone can succeed.

I think this article explores a reoccuring and dangerous theme that crops up every now and then i.e. that of the breakaway elite but it would not work even if they did break away. This is simply as competition such as the Europa League and Champions League would continue to be played and most importantly fans of clubs involved would still love it.

Try telling the 40 Sligo Rovers fans that went to Albania that the Europa League is crap.
