Interesting to see this post on women's football. As someone into betting, you never see much in the way of activity on the betting sites for women's football. Not sure if they have felt the lines are not interesting, but it does make you wonder if there is a future in women's football. Without any real media coverage, you have to wonder how it can survive. Trying to think which countries would make a real difference, probably Australia where they value female sport. Also, Scandinavia too. Anyway, from a betting point of view, i'm sure if more people bet on the sport there would be an interest. It is well known in the betting world that sports associations are doing deals with betting companies to get financial contributions to their respective sports. Lots of work being done in europe and australia for football and cricket (and in the UK trying to continue for horse racing).. I wonder whether women's football associations are looking in to this as funding must be a challenge. just a thought, because where there is money, there is power...

Abi,

I'm not paid, so I don't think it's quite a job. And read my blog if you want in depth coverage of the game.

It is not the fault of "girlies" that there isn't much coverage of the women's game. It's the fault of sports editors! Pitch Invasion at least put this story on their front page. Soccerlens buried my story on the Olympics in a corner of their site nobody would ever see.

China looked fantastic, and not just because the Chinese WNT has the best haircuts. Check out defender Li Jie (on the left) - shortlisted for FIFA
