I see the appeal of Vancouver, but I get the sense the stadium situation has Montreal slightly ahead. But you could be right it'll be two Canadian teams getting in, for reasons even beyond your cynical but perhaps accurate view of MLS' thinking.

Steve Nash is behind a Vancouver bid, so I suspect that city will get first consideration. Montreal, St. Louis and Portland are all next on the menu.

Part of me hopes Portland and Vancouver are the next two, just because of the implications that would have for USL. If nobody has to fly any further west than St. Paul and Austin, that reduces travel costs for everyone, which could make a true promotion-and-relegation system between USL-1 and USL-2 a bit more likely. Richmond relegated themselves to USL-2 because they couldn't afford to fly out west anymore.

I suspect, though, that it will end up being BOTH Montreal and Vancouver, so that MLS will never again have to worry about losing the Canadian spot in the CONCACAF Champions League to a USL club.
