Always an entertaining league and makes the premiership look very dull in comparison. Looks like they'll need someone next year to take Ortega's place but Simeone appears to of done a good job and Europe will beckon within the next year or two. I reckon to either Atletico Madrid, Lazio or Villareal.

Sam,
I wouldn't have remembered it either except I saw the movie "Gimme Shelter" in college that documented the fiasco. Keep up the good work covering the Primera. I enjoy your posts here and in "Hasta el gol siempre".

Timoteo:

'Maybe you don’t remember when the Hell’s Angels were given security responsibility for a Roling Stones concert at Altamont in 1969...'

Indeed I don't. That was 15 years before I was born. But just to make this clear right from the outset, I'm not for one second suggesting that I think it's anything other than idiocy. Interesting, yes. A good idea, emphatically not. But this is Argentina we're talking about...

I think it's one of the stupider experiments. The Barra are nothing more than organized crime, masquerading as fans. This is just one more way for the leaders to make money for their criminal enterprise. Maybe you don't remember when the Hell's Angels were given security responsibility for a Roling Stones concert at Altamont in 1969 and what transpired (Hell's Angels stabbing concert goer). It will be just a matter of time before there is a similar incident perpetrated by the Barra thugs.

If they want to curb violence there are much better methods. England has proved that. The problem is that the clubs are either too intimidated or to lbeholded to deal with the criminal element that is the Barra Bravas. Put up cameras and start banning people from the stadium, and start charging people.
