[...] Let’s set aside the beast that is AEG pushing this — who once owned half of MLS and dragged it to survival, but who have also shown very little sensitivity to supporters at various times — and just consider the principle at stake here.
Basically what he said was: If we think this is a good idea and 14 clubs agree to do it, we'll do it. It may not be in every country we'd like, but we'll do it. Your opinion does not matter, and if we lose you as a supporter, so what! We'll gain new supporters in foreign countries and we like their money just as well.

One of the reasons I have chose to support Pompey is because of the loyal and LOUD support of the crowds at Fratton Park. Visiting there was amazing. I'm going back in December. I don't care who they play, just that the crowd is in full voice. I don't think Scudamore realizes that without the level of domestic support, the league will not be what it is now. He is banking on the current objections not being enough to convince large groups of people to stop attending matches, buying kits, watching on tv, etc. I'm not sure if he's right or not.

My two cents.

Surely they're just dying to buy into the Derby County or Reading F.C. "brands" in China and India, right?

Yes, if I never read the word "brand" again in relation to football, I'd be a happy man.

Is it a really such a surprise that Scudamore is so willing to trade traditional fans for newer ones? That has been the goal all along, ever since the FA produced their blueprint for the future of football back in the late 80s. The newer fans tend to have more disposable income to splash around - and that counts for more with the accountants than pride and passion do.

Is there any chance of banning the word 'brand' from Pitch Invasion? I've heard it spoken and read it in print so many times recently that it really is making me nauseous.
