The clubs like Derby County are like toys for these kind of people, when they get bored they look for another toy, it is a bloody shame.

Hmmm...what does this mean for Feilhaber? Are the new American owners even aware that a Yank is on the club?

Ursus, it boggles the mind clubs change hands with so little scrutiny even if you're not used to the North American approach in the major leagues. Or at least, it should.

Just on the Best note, he played twice for Detroit on a tour. Googling doesn't provide much more information than that.

The Conn piece raises a lot of very good questions, and the lack of transparency is quite troubling. The easiest read would seem to be that these guys may very well be over their head (Derby may be crap this year, but they are undoubtedly "bigger" than the Fort Wayne Wizards). Once again, from a North American viewpoint, it boggles the mind to think that the Premier League allows one of its clubs to change hands without such basic concerns as who is buying the club being definitively determined.

Faulkner does sound like a true supporter, but if it isn't his money, what degree of control will he be allowed to have?

BTW, I don't think Best ever played for Detroit: LA Aztecs, San Jose Earthquakes and Ft. Lauderdale Strikers, not the Express.
