Weymouth are known as the “Terras”, or more informally as “The Muff”. The bar across the middle of the flag indicates the particular supporters group – in this case the “Wyke Terras” or Terras from Wyke (actually Wyke Regis, which is a suburb of Weymouth).
The message on the flag is “Up The Muff”, or in Americanese, “Go Weymouth”.
I figured. I’m pretty new to the site so I don’t know the demographic of the readers! If you were to show any of my fellow Canadians that pic, not one in a ten thousand would be able to understand it.
Tybalt, you were certainly helpful in translating that, now I think about it. Despite living in Chicago myself, sometimes I forget some of our British sayings doubtless confuse our North American friends (and indeed, our readership is split pretty evenly on both sides of the Atlantic).
Thanks for the praise too, and keep the insightful comments coming. They’re much appreciated.
Actually, it’s “Up The Muff”.

The title was just a poor attempt at humour, Tybalt, but thanks for the details on the name.

By the way, as a new reader I wanted to say wshat a fantastic site this is. Cheers.
