Save for the NFL, all sport in America is local or regional. In my office, if we're not talking about the NFL, we're talking about ACC Basketball, or college football every once in a while. Nobody here cares about the NBA or MLB. I never heard a peep in here from Red Sox fans after the World Series.

I actually hear more people around here talk about hockey, just because we've got the Hurricanes in Raleigh. Maybe if we had an MLS club here, things would be different, but I doubt it.

Personally, I rarely talk about soccer with anyone but my other soccer-obsessed friends. This is mainly due to a high degree of embarrassment that the prologue to Fever Pitch could have been written about me. Maybe if I could stop blushing every time I start waving my arms about and foaming at the mouth, I wouldn't mind bringing up soccer more often with casual acquaintances, but I don't see that happening any time soon.
